Roopster Roux Sports Summer Reading Program

Official Rules

Welcome to the Roopster Roux Sports Summer Reading Program! We’re excited to reward kids for reading and having fun this summer. Please review the following rules and guidelines to ensure a smooth and successful experience.

📚 How to Participate

1. Read 8 Sports-Themed Books. Participants must read any eight (8) sports-related books that are appropriate for their reading level (Grades 1–6).

2. Complete the Reading Journal. 
For each book, students must:
- Write the title and author.
- Provide a brief summary.
- Rate the book by coloring one of the stars (1 = Dislike, 3 = Good, 5 = Excellent).
- Have the journal signed by a parent or guardian.

3. Submit Your Journal In person.
Bring your completed and signed Roopster Roux Sports Summer Reading Journal to any participating The Roux Gas Station and Convenience Store between June 12th and August 31, 2025.

🎁 Program Perks

All students who complete the program and turn in a valid journal will receive:
- A FREE Slushie.
- A Roopster Roux Wristband.
- Entry into a drawing for one of three Computer Tablets.
- A 10% Off Gas Discount Coupon (one time use) for their parent or guardian. This coupon is valid at participating The Roux locations.

✅ Eligibility

- Open to students entering Grades 1 through 6.
- One entry per child.
- Only original journals will be accepted—no photocopies or digital submissions.

📅 Program Dates

Start Date: June 12th 2025.
End Date: August 31, 2025.
Prize Drawing: Winners will be contacted by September 29, 2025.

⚠ Additional Rules

- Journal must be fully completed and signed by a parent/guardian.
- The Roux staff reserves the right to verify entries and deny perks if information is incomplete or inaccurate.
- Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- By submitting a completed journal, participants agree to be entered into the drawing and may be featured in promotional materials.

Grades 1–2

1. Pete the Cat: Play Ball! by James Dean
Pete learns about teamwork and trying your best—even if you don’t win.

2. Goodnight Football by Michael Dahl
A bedtime celebration of football that winds down with a winning spirit.

3. Froggy Plays Soccer by Jonathan London
Froggy's funny missteps teach lessons about focus, fairness, and fun.

4. Baby Dunks-a-Lot: A Picture Book, by Jayson Tatum
Inspired by Jayson Tatum’s life as both an NBA superstar and a loving dad, this laugh-out-loud picture book is the story of what happens when a tot becomes an NBA teammate.

5. The Adventures of Roopster Roux: Slamming Slime by Lavaille Lavette
In order to start in the basketball game, Roopster will have to learn how to slam dunk. But dunking is the least of his concerns after he overhears the evil Tegore's plans to take over the town and the world with his stinky green slime.

Grades 3–4

1. The Berenstain Bears: We Love Soccer! by Mike Berenstain
Join Brother and Sister Bear as they score big on and off the field.

2. Soccer Star by Mina Javaherbin
A heartwarming story about a boy in Brazil with dreams bigger than the game.

3. Baseball's Best: Five True Stories by Andrew Gutelle
Real-life baseball heroes—from Babe Ruth to Roberto Clemente—come alive.

4. EllRay Jakes Is Not a Chicken! by Sally Warner
A relatable story about standing up, fitting in, and playing basketball.

5. The Adventures of Roopster Roux, The Monster All-Stars by Lavaille Lavette
Roopster Roux will have to use his brains as well as his b-ball skills if the Vikings are to beat the Monster All-Stars in a Halloween game.

Grades 5–6

1. Ghost (Track Series #1) by Jason Reynolds
A fast-paced story about a boy running from his past and toward a better future.

2. The Crossover by Kwame Alexander
A powerful, poetic novel about twin basketball stars, brotherhood, and growing up.

3. STAT: Standing Tall and Talented by Amar’e Stoudemire
A young NBA hopeful learns about life, friends, and staying true to yourself.

4. Out of Left Field by Ellen Klages
A historical fiction about girls breaking into baseball’s boys-only past.
